Siva Vaidhyanathan's THE GOOGLIZATION OF EVERYTHING: How one company is transforming culture, commerce and community - and why we should worry, showing how Google is taking on governments, organizations and entire industries - and the implications of Google knowing more about us than we know about it, to Naomi Schneider at University of California Press, by Sam Stoloff at the Frances Goldin Literary Agency (NA).
So it's true. The fabulous University of California Press will publish The Googlization of Everything. It should be out in the late summer of 2009.
That little (NA) at the end of the notice stands for North America. I have also agreed to have Profile publish the book in the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth. We are currently seeking publishers in other parts of the world for the translations. So there will be more news of this sort down the line.
Anyway, the whole process of seeking a contract for this project was deeply inspiring and helpful. I got great feedback from readers and editors are a wide array of both academic and trade presses. Ultimately, California offered a combination of the best terms and the best vision for marketing this book. California does wonderful work. So I am very excited about this.
I am even more inspired by the interest shown in this project by publishers around the world. So thanks to everyone involved in this process -- especially Sam.
Ok. Now I just have to finish this darn thing.

Congrats!
Will they allow a CC license? (eventually?)
I was impressed by your presentation of some of these ideas at the "Google and Libraries" conference yesterday. My reaction... a bit of respectful disagreement I'm afraid.
Looking forward to the book!
